im losing my edge (but i was there)

the song losing my edge by LCD Soundsystem seems to appear in my mind sometimes -- inaudibly of course -- but non the less, i still jam it. to it. the lyrics are brilliant. as always.

Yeah, I'm losing my edge.
I'm losing my edge.
The kids are coming up from behind.
I'm losing my edge.
I'm losing my edge to the kids from France and from London.
But I was there.

I was there in 1968.
I was there at the first Can show in Cologne.
I'm losing my edge.
I'm losing my edge to the kids whose footsteps I hear when they get on the decks.
I'm losing my edge to the Internet seekers who can tell me every member of every good group from 1962 to 1978.
I'm losing my edge.

To all the kids in Tokyo and Berlin.
I'm losing my edge to the art-school Brooklynites in little jackets and borrowed nostalgia for the unremembered eighties.

But I'm losing my edge.
I'm losing my edge, but I was there.
I was there.
But I was there.

I'm losing my edge.
I'm losing my edge.
I can hear the footsteps every night on the decks.
But I was there.
I was there in 1974 at the first Suicide practices in a loft in New York City.
I was working on the organ sounds with much patience.
I was there when Captain Beefheart started up his first band.
I told him, "Don't do it that way. You'll never make a dime."
I was there.
I was the first guy playing Daft Punk to the rock kids.
I played it at CBGB's.
Everybody thought I was crazy.
We all know.
I was there.
I was there.
I've never been wrong.

I used to work in the record store.
I had everything before anyone.
I was there in the Paradise Garage DJ booth with Larry Levan.
I was there in Jamaica during the great sound clashes.
I woke up naked on the beach in Ibiza in 1988.

But I'm losing my edge to better-looking people with better ideas and more talent.
And they're actually really, really nice.

I'm losing my edge.

I heard you have a compilation of every good song ever done by anybody. Every great song by the Beach Boys. All the underground hits. All the Modern Lovers tracks. I heard you have a vinyl of every Niagra record on German import. I heard that you have a white label of every seminal Detroit techno hit - 1985, '86, '87. I heard that you have a CD compilation of every good '60s cut and another box set from the '70s.

I hear you're buying a synthesizer and an arpeggiator and are throwing your computer out the window because you want to make something real. You want to make a Yaz record.

I hear that you and your band have sold your guitars and bought turntables.
I hear that you and your band have sold your turntables and bought guitars.

I hear everybody that you know is more relevant than everybody that I know.

But have you seen my records? This Heat, Pere Ubu, Outsiders, Nation of Ulysses, Mars, The Trojans, The Black Dice, Todd Terry, the Germs, Section 25, Althea and Donna, Sexual Harrassment, a-ha, Pere Ubu, Dorothy Ashby, PIL, the Fania All-Stars, the Bar-Kays, the Human League, the Normal, Lou Reed, Scott Walker, Monks, Niagra,

Joy Division, Lower 48, the Association, Sun Ra,
Scientists, Royal Trux, 10cc,

Eric B. and Rakim, Index, Basic Channel, Soulsonic Force ("just hit me"!), Juan Atkins, David Axelrod, Electric Prunes, Gil! Scott! Heron!, the Slits, Faust, Mantronix, Pharaoh Sanders and the Fire Engines, the Swans, the Soft Cell, the Sonics, the Sonics, the Sonics, the Sonics.

You don't know what you really want. (x15)

The Beta Band - She's The One For Me

here is another beta band song. this one is from The 3 E.P.'s. the ending features the chipmonks singing 'shes the one for me' beauty beauty

The Beta Band- She's The One

Falling through the floor
With the friend I had before
Grabbing at straws
So the holes don't slow me down

Coming up next
The lizard and the text
Showing me the ropes
Don't be giving up your hopes

Trickle downstream
With the underwater steam
Fish on the side
He's a looking for a dream

She's the one for me
She's the one for me
She's the one for me
She's the one for me

Falling through the floor
With the friend I had before
Grabbing at straws
So the holes don't slow me down

Coming up next
The lizard and the text
Showing me the ropes
Don't be giving up your hopes

Trickle downstream
With the underwater steam
Fish on the side
He's a looking for a dream

Give up the try
For the everlasting life
Never grew upside
So I keep it all inside

Fat girl ticklelish
Crazy miss stimulus
Falling on your face with your stupid line brace
Saying, pop goes the weasel as he paints another easel

Grab a piece of pie, she's your chicken in your eye
Push out the boat 'fore the river runs dry
Drinking in the watersun, pucking on the egg fry
With my super line
With my super line

I never threw before so I never found the reason
Walk, fall, doesn't stall, blowing in the breezin'
Holding on the side, just a painting for the season
Walk, fall, doesn't stall, blowing in the breezin'

She's the one for me (repeat)

The Beta Band - Pure For

been listening to beta band all morning. Pure For is a wonderful song for rainy days. (theres a few of the lyrics i cant seem to figure out). if you have Heroes to Zeros, listen to this song today.

If my fears it seems to be
Going on around me
Im so blind I cant see
Whats going on behind me

I'm so glad you found me
I'm so glad you found me

I'm so glad you found me
I'm so glad you found me

Back on my mind starts to feel
Are these things really real?

I'm so glad you found me
I'm so glad you found me

I'm so glad you found me
I'm so glad you found me

things are real and song again
Least I know I got your name
Find the bird thats full of ****
Call your **** your gold dust

Youthful things it seems to be
Going on around me

I'm so glad you found me
I'm so glad you found me

I'm so glad you found me
I'm so glad you found me

I'm so glad you found me
I'm so glad you found me

for a limited time only

so i got a new cell phone, and a new cell phone number. this is an exceptionally special time in life. it only happens about once in 8 years. ive had my old number for about that long. as a social experiment, im calling friends pretending to be rita dinger (who actually is a real person. a very nice person at that, but i love the name so i use it.) and im telling them they have won a prize. this generates huge amounts of fun. for those of you that actually read this, youre in on my secret, but dont tell anyone, id really like to see the results of this social experiement.

im keeping statistics, and i will let you know the results in the weeks to come. so tune in.

BUT for a limitited time only until my old service provider divorces me, i will do what NO blogger dares to do. i will put my phone number on my blog and will be taking calls for advice. i offer all kinds of advice...on any topic. and im free. so call me. 513.478.4298. ask for jared. (because you know, i share my phone with 55 llamas.)

oh yea. (in monotone)

(at work) so i recently got this piece of paper handed to me sort of discretly, like a memo or something. on the right side, it reads :

On Your Anniversary
In recognition of your first year of emplyment with XXX Consulting Group, Inc.
THANK YOU JARED
on the left side it reads:
1
june 27, 2005
isent that special?
no.
no it isent.
i found it amusing though that i could make up an exact replica of this award and change the numbers to something like 98 years of employment. im going to do that. maybe ill make some up for my co-workers too.

yea.

on the other hand, because ive been employed for over a year, i now earn 2 weeks of vacation per year instead of 1. (actually since i work more than 40, i earn more. lets say 2.54 (cause thats the average number of kids people have in the united states)

oh boy. (in monotone)
